FAQ's

There is not necessarily one answer to this as these procedures are helpful for different types of patients with different degrees of hair loss. Typically, many patients begin with the FUE hair transplant procedure, as this operation is less invasive and does not leave a linear scar the way FUT does.

However, FUT or Follicular Unit Transplants definitely have their place and help many patients achieve their hair restoration goals. Some patients looking to save money and choose a more affordable hair transplant option may select the FUT transplant, as the procedure takes less time to perform. Other patients may benefit from both FUE and FUT procedures performed at different times in order to achieve the best results.

Why We Don’t Call Our Offices a research facility?

Many clinics label themselves as “research facilities” to publish articles promoting their practices without seeming biased. However, these articles often lack credible sources, which means the information could be speculative.

What Makes Our Blog Different?

At Stem Cells LA, we maintain a patient blog to share valuable information. Importantly, all our articles are sourced from third parties, such as actual scientific research centers or other reliable sources. This practice allows you to verify the accuracy of the information by simply checking the source links provided in the articles. In fact, most of our articles include source links that discuss the efficacy of stem cell therapy for various conditions.

Yes, a FUE hair transplant is a permanent. The grafts that are transplanted will continue to grow for the rest of your life. However, as you age, your hair will naturally thin and change color, so the results may not be as dramatic as when you are younger. But the hair follicles that have been transplanted will still continue to grow.

FUE is a popular and minimally-invasive hair transplant procedure that involves extracting individual hair follicles from the donor area and transplanting them into the recipient area. This technique is used to restore hair loss due to male pattern baldness, traction alopecia, or other causes of baldness.

Call us today for a consultation and find the right treatment for your hair loss!

Why?

The reason for this is that the owners of these clinics want to cut out the effort required to give each patient individual attention and instead have the seminar or webinar do the work for them. The problem is that stem cell therapy always requires individual attention for a patient to determine if it’s a good choice for them.

While we may refer a potential patient to our FAQ page if it sounds like they have questions that may be answered here, we will always answer questions specific to their condition after they have read this FAQ in its entirety.

The biggest advantage of FUE procedures is that they minimize the potential for scarring. This is because the hair follicles are removed one at a time, rather than as a strip like in the Follicular Unit Transplant procedure. As a result, there is no linear incision and minimal tissue damage. Incisions made during the FUE procedure are small and usually less than 1mm in size. The result is little to no scarring.

However, some people may experience scarring due to the FUE procedure if they choose an unqualified doctor or fail to follow their surgeon’s directions. Our Los Angeles FUE clinic provide the best hair transplant Los Angeles hair restoration results, all at a price you can afford.

To achieve the best results, follow these tips and learn more about if FUE hair transplants leave scars by reading this article on the potential for FUE scarring after your hair restoration procedure.

Does keeping your head shaved prevent balding? Very simply, no, although it’s a very prevalent myth. Shaving your head can’t increase the rate of hair growth, or prevent balding.

Hair density describes how closely the strands of hair are packed together. Decreased density gives the appearance of thinning hair, and this is what many hairloss sufferers experience.

As hair grows longer, the ends of the hair tend to lighten from exposure to sunlight. When hair is first growing it may appear darker, and the ends tend to stick up. This can give the illusion of higher density when the hair is shorter.

The reality is that cutting the hair has no effect on the follicles that are underneath the scalp. Remember, balding is primarily a genetic issue. Shaving your head will have no effect on this. For more information on this question, read our full blog about keeping your head shaved to prevent balding.

There is mixed evidence on this subject. Some doctors believe that you should continue to use minoxidil after a hair transplant in order to improve the results, while other doctors believe that it is not necessary. More research is needed in order to make a definitive statement.

Some of the possible benefits of using minoxidil after a hair transplant include increased hair growth and decreased hair loss.

It is generally recommended that you speak with your doctor about whether or not it is right for you. Minoxidil can help to promote hair growth and may help to improve the overall results of your hair transplant.

There isn’t a straightforward answer to provide you if you’re considering an FUE transplant and are asking when will FUE hair grow following a hair transplant. After all, every patient is unique, has a unique body and a unique history of hair loss, and will respond differently. However, there are established stages of the hair transplant procedure that could provide insight into the average patient’s FUE hair growth cycle.

Before continuing, it is a good idea to review the various FUE hair transplant procedure-related considerations. You may find all the information you require below, though, if all you’re interested in are the FUE hair growth components and expectations based on the day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month advancement.

When will FUE hair grow is best estimated using the four growth phases which take place during 12-18 months following your procedure. These phases include Initial Shedding, Transition, Visible Growth, and Maturity.

1) Initial Shedding: Some of the transplanted hair may follicles shed in the first two weeks following the transplant. This is a typical occurrence during the hair growth cycle and is not cause for alarm.

2) Transition: The hair will start to move from a resting phase to an active growth phase over the next months. The transplanted hair follicles start to grow new hair at this point.

3) Visible Growth: New hair starts to show after three to six months. Hair will typically grow at a rate of about 1/4 inch each month. Hair may look more natural between the next 6-12 months, at which point you can start shaping and styling it.

4) Maturity: The transplanted hair should be fully developed and the final outcome of the treatment will be visible after 12 -18 months. The hair should have grown to its full length and thickness by this time.

If you like to wear your hair short and you’re considering a hair transplant, you might be wondering how soon after surgery can you use clippers after hair transplant surgery.

When it comes to when you can use clippers after hair transplant surgery, we recommend that you avoid clippers such as buzz cutters for the first year after your surgery. You can resume haircuts one month after surgery.

Using clippers after a transplant, especially too soon after a transplant can damage the newly transplanted grafts, or put them at risk of infection. Shaving the donor area too soon afterward can impact how the skin of the scalp heals.

Every person, regardless of health, loses stem cells over the course of their life. At birth, 1 in 10,000 of our body’s cells are stem cells. By age 16-18, only 1 in 100,000 cells are stem cells. By age 50, 1 in 400,000. Between age 70-80, only 1 in 2,000,000 cells are stem cells. These numbers could be even worse when you factor in circumstances such as the current health of the individual.

What This Means:

This means that your ability to use your own stem cells effectively in treating yourself decreases with age. The stem cells you will get from a younger donor will be much more concentrated than those you can get from yourself in virtually all cases. The fact that they come from an outside donor does not impact their effectiveness so long as they are the right kind of stem cells, containing MSCs described earlier, as they have the ability to differentiate into different cell types. For this reason, your body does not ‘reject’ stem cells as we think of a body rejecting an organ transplant if it doesn’t match perfectly.

Any surgical procedure can fail or go awry for a variety of reasons. That’s why it’s so important that you choose the best hair transplant surgeon possible AND that you follow pre-op and post-procedure instructions your physician provides.

It is especially important that you take great care of your scalp and rest accordingly in the weeks after your transplant. Your hair is in a vulnerable state and you can cause damage to your hair during this period of time.

Finally, even with a qualified surgeon and following all the requirements, it is still possible for a patient’s body to reject a transplant or to have complications. After all, everyone’s body is different. However, complications like this are extremely rare and not typical of our patients.

For more information relating to can FUE hair transplants fail, we recommend referencing the related article we’ve linked to so you can further educate yourself and be ready to ask additional questions during your consultation. It’s extremely important you choose a qualified FUE hair clinic in LA who can truly provide the best hair transplant Los Angeles has to offer.
